Thomas Robins
Thomas is an actor’s director and understands the challenges of delivering a knockout performance. A former actor himself, his previous roles include ‘Deagol’ in The Lord of the Rings, ‘Colin MacKenzie’ in the mockumentary Forgotten Silver and ‘Mr Morton’ in Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby.
Thomas has transformed himself into a highly experienced director with a background in television drama and commercials. He is the creator of two exceptionally well-regarded teenage series. Both Freaky and The Killian Curse received nominations for best children’s drama at the Qantas Media Awards, with Freaky winning the top honour in 2007. This series also went on to win a bronze medal in the New York Festival.
Thomas has also directed numerous episodes of series such as Time Trackers (a finalist at the 2010 AFI Awards), four series of the comedy show Face Lift (both for The Gibson Group) as well as Karaoke High for TVNZ. He is the co-creator of Reservoir Hill and has numerous projects in development intended for both teenage and adult audiences.
On the commercial front Thomas has directed high profile commercials for New World, NZ Post and the NZ Army. Blessed with boundless enthusiasm, Thomas has an absolute passion for his craft and an abiding commitment to the highest standards of film industry professionalism.
